Tasting Notes
Antonio Galloni 91
The 2014 Pensées de Lafleur is a gorgeous wine that captures all of the personality and character of the Grand Vin but with more modest structure and depth. Pliant, supple and super-expressive, the Pensées is a pure joy to taste. Sweet red cherry, blood orange and mint shape the gracious, midweight finish.
Anticipated maturity: 2018-2029
Wine Advocate 89-91
The Pensées de Lafleur 2014 is a blend of 69% Merlot picked on September 29 (four days after the Merlot for the Grand Vin) and 31% Cabernet Franc picked on October 6. There is a pleasant tang of damp tobacco on the nose, perhaps a little smokier than previous vintages, but still very well defined. The palate is medium-bodied with sappy black fruit, hints of black olive with a chalky textured, precise finish. It does not quite have the length of a tip-top vintage but is still well worth seeking out for those that cannot afford Château Lafleur itself.
Anticipated maturity: 2019-2030
